Firefighters from five agencies scrambled Friday afternoon after a grass fire broke out in Evergreen.

The fire eventually covered 2 acres between Shady Lane and East Cottonwood Driver before firefighters corralled the flames.

The fire may have started at a transient camp. The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office is questioning suspects.

Evergreen Fire Rescue, the Montana Department of Natural Resources, South Kalispell Fire Department, West Valley Fire Department and Creston Fire Department responded to the fire.

Fire danger is extreme and all campfires are prohibited.
