SANDPOINT — All high school students in the Lake Pend Oreille School District will be using a Chromebook this year, purchased by the district with levy funds.

Erik Olson, instructional technology director, said the project started more than two years ago, with the vision of having a 1:1 ratio of students and computers. With the exception of a few classrooms at the elementary and the middle school students, the project is close to success.

The district held a pilot project last year with some of the high school students and gave them Chromebooks. The students used them and rated them compared to iPads. Olson said part of the pilot project stemmed from Cromebooks being cheaper than iPads.
