Larry Llewellyn was born in Detroit, Mich., and was raised in Los Angeles, Calif. He remained there until he enlisted in the Navy in 1942 departing to Farragut, Idaho, for basic training.

He had the distinct honor and privilege to serve his country with the U.S. Navy, Army Air Corps and the U.S. Air Force where he proudly served during World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. His military career spanned from 1942 to 1965. After his retirement from the military he taught cosmetology for four years at Marinello-Comer School of Beauty and then went on to work for the U.S. Postal Service for 15 years.

He married the love of his life, Jean, on Dec. 23, 1964.

He loved his family and extended family, and he was loved dearly in return.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jean Llewellyn, and his four intelligent and beautiful children: Sandra Gifford, Valerie Bright, Kimberly Osberg and Jay Llewellyn; and his equally intelligent and beautiful grandchildren, Elliott Teller, Rachael Murphy, Brent Reese, Brianna Murphy, Jayson Llewellyn, Justin Reese, Karl Llewellyn, Bradlee Llewellyn, Ambrea George, Aaron Reese and Angela Thomas.

The legacy didn't stop there, he had 11 equally intelligent and beautiful great-grandchildren: Izzac Teller, Cole Murphy, Forest Murphy, Chloe Reese, Austin Thomas, Nicolas Llewellyn, EmmaLee George, Danika Reese, Annalycia Llewellyn Charles George and Evalynn Llewellyn.

His 91 and a half years of life were packed with many, many adventures and lots and lots of fun. He had so much spunk and tenacity that we were all lulled into believing that he would go on living forever. He is greatly missed.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015, at Grace Bible Church, 152 W. Prairie Ave., Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. English Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements. Please visit Larry's online memorial at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
