A winter weather advisory is in effect until 11 p.m. tonight according to the National Weather Service in Missoula.

The winter weather advisory calls for light precipitation in the form of light snow, freezing rain or rain that will be moving into western Montana. The strong valley inversions will cause pockets of freezing rain today and freezing rain can cause the roadways to become extremely hazardous in a short period of time, the weather service said.

Snow accumulations might build to up to one half an ince. Ice accumulations might build to less than one eighth of an inch.

Impacted locations include Flathead Lake, Flathead Valley, Mission Valley, Polson, BItteroot Valley, Missoula, Lolo Pass and Highway 93 Sula to Lost Trail Pass.
