As shoppers enter the final two weeks for Christmas gift-getting, many Flathead Valley art galleries are offering specials to encourage people to spend in support of local artists.
The Paint, Metal and Mud Art Gallery in Kalispell is in the middle of its “Twelve Artists of Christmas” event.
“Twelve Artists of Christmas” features each of the art collective’s 12 local artists and their work for one day. The annual event this year runs through Friday, Dec. 18, giving shoppers plenty of time to take advantage of the specialty items being offered. The event also includes daily demonstrations, drawings and 10 to 50 percent off discount specials.
The artists who have already been featured this month include photographer and author John Ashley (www.JohnAshleyFineArt.com); jeweler and goldsmith Pia Eaves; fused glass artist Ann Schmidt (www.redvoodooglassworks.com); and quilter and textile artist Monique Kleinhans (www.ladybugscabin.com).
Today, Dec. 10, will feature Michaela Eaves, graphic designer and artist (www.michaelaeaves.com). Shoppers can get a free greeting card by Eaves if they come prepared to tell a joke.
Friday, Dec. 11, will feature Linda Sole, beaded jewelry maker, photographer and painter. Sole will be giving jewelry demonstrations and offering 10 percent off her jewelry and cards.
Saturday, Dec. 12, will feature Raette Meredith, palette knife and landscape painter (www.artbyraette.com). Her original oil paintings will be offered at 25 percent off.
Monday, Dec. 14, will feature Cheryl Ross, potter extraordinaire. Ross is offering a 25 percent discount on all floor vases and planters.
Tuesday, Dec. 15, will feature Lois Sturgis, watercolor artist. Her watercolor prints will be 20 percent off.
Wednesday, Dec. 16, will feature Pat Jones, jeweler and stained glass artist. All of Jones’ jewelry will be offered with a 10 percent discount.
Thursday, Dec. 17, will feature Francine Brown, weaver and fiber artist. Brown will give a live weaving demonstration, and offer her woven wall art at 50 percent off.
The final day, Friday, Dec. 18, will feature Carri Sampson, artist working in glass mosaic. She will hold a raffle for the chance to win a mosaic ornament, and offer her mosaic art at 20 percent off.
