COEUR d'ALENE — Montana Hodges said Wednesday she hasn't found her beloved dog, Ted.

The Press published a story a week ago reporting Hodges' search stretched from Missoula to Spokane. She chased down leads in Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls after a hitchhiker with a dog matching Ted's description was reportedly spotted in the area after traveling west from Missoula.

The search really took off with a Facebook group called "Fetching Ted," where hundreds of people contributed to the search and spread information. Hodges is still offering a $2,000 reward — no questions asked — for his safe return.

But she currently is at a dead end.

"I have no idea this time where he might be," said Hodges, 33. "I'm just waiting for some more tips."

Ted is a black Lab-husky mix.

She said all the interest generated on social media and through The Press' article last week helped some other dog owners find their lost pets.

She said five dogs have been reunited with their families, including two in Coeur d'Alene. Pictures of found dogs were posted to the group's Facebook page, where they were ruled out as Ted and then identified by their owners.

She said she has returned home to Missoula until some new information comes in. Along with Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls, she searched East Sprague Avenue in Spokane, seeking to track down the hitchhiker who might have Ted.

Ted, 9, was last seen in Missoula at a Pattee Canyon trailhead on Nov. 16. Hodges said he took off from her to run after a deer or another animal. She adopted Ted more than eight years ago.
