Saturday was a busy day for craft shows and holiday festivities.  

In Superior, the Clark Fork Valley Montana Women in Timber group held their annual Parents Gift Table at the fire department. Several tables were filled with porcelain knick-knacks, tools, scarves, and more items that local children could “shop” for and give to their parents for Christmas.  

The items were free of charge and the women wrapped the gifts for kids to put under the Christmas tree.

“We get items donated to us,” said the event coordinator, Joann Merseal, “and some of the items, especially gifts for the men, we purchase.”

Some of the money for the gifts is raised by Robert Lyons, who stood in the middle of Main Street in Superior for several hours collecting cash donations from cars passing by. He said that he’d been doing it for the past couple of years. He usually uses the money collected to purchase gifts for teenagers.  

“We don’t usually get very many items donated for that age group, and so we go out and purchase things like cologne, and other beauty products. It’s a difficult age to buy gifts for,” said Lyons.

The Women in Timber reported that they had around 100 kids attend their event this year.  The group also has a thrift shop in Superior. They host a number of events every year, including making gift baskets for the needy. They work in conjunction with the local Lions Club, which will deliver the baskets next week.
