SCHAWANA – Eagle Scots Beck and Anson Bartrand are raising money for several needs this Christmas season and are hopeful you will help them out by buying their Christmas wreaths.

The Bartrands are part of an Eagle Scout family. Their college-age brothers are Eagles. Beck, 17, and Anson, 14, are earning Eagle Palms (achievement available after earning Eagle Scout) and helping to lead their scout troop.

“We co-founded our troop’s national honor patrol, which goes above and beyond normal troop scouting activities, promotes service in the community and excellence,” Beck said.

One of the programs Beck needs help with is the Washington Music Educator Association All-State Honor Band. He has been named to the band as a French horn player. Very few are invited to attend, only the top music students.

The honor band members train for three days. They perform a concert at the end for the finale. But it comes with costs the students are asked to raise.

The fee charged for the three-day event is $335.

The Bartrands are also raising help for Orphans at Sunshine Orchards Children’s Home and Learning Center on the Thailand-Myanmar border.

“The scouts raise funds for camping, badges, equipment, etc.,” Beck said. “That way the parents aren’t forking over the money for every activity. The scouts are learning work ethic, to pay their way.”
