DALTON GARDENS — Dalton Gardens City Council members appointed Denise Lundy to fill the seat left vacant by longtime council member Ron Koontz.
Koontz resigned from his position in October after moving from Dalton Gardens to a home in Coeur d’Alene.
He notified the city council and mayor about his resignation shortly before the Nov. 3 election in which two Dalton Gardens City Council seats were open. Lundy, one of three candidates who sought election to one of the positions, narrowly lost.
She was appointed on Dec. 3 to serve a two-year term.
City Clerk Valerie Anderson said Mayor Dan Franklin made the recommendation to appoint Lundy, and the council unanimously confirmed Franklin’s recommendation.
Anderson said she was unaware of Franklin’s rationale for recommending Lundy.
A press release issued by the city stated Lundy has extensive experience in planning, zoning, finance, marketing and city government. In addition, she has spent the last decade serving on nonprofit boards and executive committees and has chaired finance, government affairs, ethics and membership committees for various large organizations within the community.
Lundy is a local business owner and real estate broker.
She could not be reached for comment on Thursday.
