The Trojans dropped their home opener game against Stillwater Christian on Thursday, with a final score of 64-85.

After the game, Troy boys’ basketball coach Jerry Mee applauded both teams’ performances while praising his own team’s effort.

“Stillwater shot the ball extremely well and played at a very fast pace, which we had problems keeping up with at times,” said Mee. “We shot the ball OK. I am pleased with our effort and felt we played hard.”

Stillwater Christian’s Cougars’ shooting placed them ahead of the Trojans in every quarter, scoring 24 over Troy’s 18 in the first quarter, 26 to 18 by halftime, putting the score at 50-36. They went on to score 19 to Troy’s 13 in the third and a close 16 to 15 in the final quarter.

Troy’s big scorers for the game were Dillon Savage with 18 points, Sean Opland with 14 points and Adam Tallmadge with 12 points.

Mee expressed a need for improvement among his players and certainty at how the team can pull it off.

“We need to work on rebounding and taking care of the basketball,” said Mee.

The Trojans will Face Noxon’s Red Devils on Thursday, Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m.
