A Lake County shooting suspect was apprehended Wednesday, two days after an incident in Pablo left a woman seriously wounded.

Ashley Rae Hewankorn, 28, will be charged with felony assault with a weapon, according to a press release issued by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

She was caught in Glacier County after authorities received a tip on Wednesday that she was hitchhiking to Browning. Within an hour of receiving the tip, the Glacier County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation took Hewankorn into custody.

Hewankorn also is wanted on other warrants.

She was arraigned in September on four counts of felony burglary and one count of criminal possession of dangerous drugs after rifles, a checkbook and other stolen items were allegedly found in her vehicle parked at Pablo Family Foods. She allegedly fled out of the back of the store.

Hewankorn’s alleged victim, who was shot in the chest, is in stable condition at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.
