SANDPOINT — A task force has been formed to combat a subject that many people avoid: suicide.

Lake Pend Oreille School District Superintendent Shawn

Woodward created the Community Suicide Prevention Task Force to take on the problem of suicide in our community. About 45 community members, from counselors, board members, students, parents, staff, healthcare and law enforcement professionals, clergy, and judicial officials attended the task force meeting Dec. 10.

Catherine Perusse, regional chair of Suicide Prevention Action Network of Idaho, is a clinician at North Idaho Community Mental Health, specializing in patients of all ages who are suicidal. She also is on the state board for SPAN.
