Sally Vannoy of Bigfork captured first place this year with her oil painting, The Patriarch in the Hockay Museum of Art’s 2015 Winter Members’ Salon.

The show included a broad range of two and three-dimensional works.

“I have been so fortunate to call the Flathead Valley home since a young child,” Vannoy said. “Growing up here has shaped me into who I am today. I developed a great love for the outdoors and wildlife. Whether hiking, biking, riding horses, fishing, kayaking or painting en plein air, I love being in the great outdoors. Since I could hold a crayon, I have been drawing and into the use of color. My paintings are like a journal of my life. We are surrounded by such beauty everywhere and it is my hope to capture this through my paint.”

Big Horn County Suncatcher, a watercolor by Jessica Glenn, took second place. Whitefish artist Rob Akey claimed third place with his oil painting, Sunday Morning in Butte featuring a quiet beginning to a day in Montana’s Copper City. Many of the Artists offer their works for sale in the Museum, giving the public a chance to acquire art for their private collections. A portion of the proceeds from each sold piece is donated to the Hockaday’s exhibition and education funds.

The 2015 Winter Members’ Salon will be on exhibit at the Hockaday Museum of Art through Dec. 31.

The Hockaday Museum of Art is located in the cultural district of downtown Kalispell at 302 Second Ave East.
