Dave Graybill: The Fishin' Magician

The Wenatchee River had dropped into fishing shape after the heavy successive days of rain in the region.
It was still high but clear and I had a few reports of success. I talked to an enforcement officer that was finding people out and about and those who knew the river well were having some success.
We just got another shot of heavy snow in the area and that will make things difficult for anglers to get to the river or launch a boat for a while. One of the opportunities right now for steelheaders is to fish off the bar at the mouth of the Entiat River.
I have had some good days here by anchoring and casting bobbers and jigs to the channels that lead under the bridge on the down river side. Another place that should be productive for steelhead right now is at Bridgeport.
There are some good holes up there and it offers excellent bobber and jig drifts and some areas for back trolling plugs.
I was considering a trip to Rocky Ford with my fly rod, but it looks like I will have to wait at least a week for the weather to settle down.

I had a great experience the other day. I had stopped by Hooked on Toys in Wenatchee and ran into someone that I knew from Lake Chelan.
