SANDPOINT — A Priest River man was arrested last week for possessing a homemade explosive device.

Tony Ray Vargas was barred from possessing such an item due to a felony theft conviction dating back to 2013, court records indicate. He was also charged with possession of a marijuana pipe.

Vargas, 33, is being held at the Bonner County Jail with bail set at $15,000. A bail-reduction hearing is pending in Bonner County Magistrate Court.
