Letter to the Editor:

I understand and support the declaration of emergency, adopted by the Mayor of Libby on the Dec. 9, 2015. I understand the necessity of the mill revenues, which are part of the process towards eligibility for state and FEMA disaster funds.

What I don’t understand is why we, the Libby City Council, must learn of these things (a week later) from local media. Why is Mayor Roll so afraid of information coming before the City Council?

I requested a public presentation of the Flower Creek Dam situation by Morrison-Maierle, in order to prevent controversial chatter and to inform the City of Libby  of the true nature of the situation. To date no response. Mayor Roll’s failure to include the City Council in the process only fuels controversy.

It is unfortunate the Council has to follow media reports in order to keep updated on city business; but, until the Mayor learns the meaning of cooperation, this will have to be the case.

Libby
