Eureka wrestlers Buzz Lucey champs

EUREKA — Led by individual champions Kahdan Bakkila (120), Jonathan Schmidt (126), Josh Schmidt (138) and Garrett Graves (170), Eureka won the Buzz Lucey Memorial wrestling tournament on Saturday.
The Lions piled up 217 points to easily run off with the team title for the second-straight year.
Polson, 146, was second and Flathead JV, 116 1/2, third.
“Eureka had an outstanding day,” Eureka coach Dan Lemer said.
“The team showed up ready to wrestle and determined to win. I’m very proud of the guys.”
Bakkila, Jonathan Schmidt and Graves won their finals matches by pins.
Josh Schmidt decisioned teammate James Dunn 1-0 in that final.
Eureka had nine wrestlers in the finals.
“They have been working very hard,” Lemer said.
“It’s paying off.”
Eureka also had three wrestlers place third.
“That’s a great team effort,” Lemer added.
Polson had three individual champions — Rene Pierre (103), Bryce Henning (132) and Colton Cote (152).
Other winners were Winfield West (113) of Columbia Falls; Jake Lile (145) and Kane Lawson (160) of Plains; Alex Bertolt (182) of Arlee; Stefan Karchut (205) of Flathead and Steven Quimby (285) of Whitefish.
Ten wrestlers won their finals match by pin.
