DESERT AIRE — Cozy Comforts of South Grant County makes comfort blankets for children in need of a warm hugs, and it raised enough money at its annual Christmas Bazaar last Saturday for 400 more blankets.

“We would like to thank the community for making this Bake Sale-Bazaar the best one yet,” Cozy Comforts President Diane Hanson said.

The blankets the 25 or so members of Cozy Comforts make are donated to police, fire and other agencies that deal with children involved in emergencies or incidents that cause a crossing of paths with police.

The Bazaar was held at the Sagebrush Senior Center, and it was busy all day long. Many local friends of the Bazaar from past years returned to shop. Many new people stopped by and purchased homemade baked cookies, candy, fudge, breads and numerous Christmas gift items.

“Our Seahawk table was a huge success and sold out fast,” Hanson said. “We sold out of lunch early this year. We will make more soup next year.”

Cozy Comforts issued a thank-you to local businesses Marty’s Hardware, Milbrandt Vineyards, Ginkgo Forest Winery, Lep-re-Kon Harvest Foods and Desert Aire Golf Course for donating items to either the silent auction or the raffle.

The basket of gift cards worth more than $300 was won by Desert Aire resident Marty Wright. She moved here early this year and is a member of Cozy Comforts.
