Body in lake believed to be missing Connell man

POTHOLES — A body found floating in Long Lake Friday is believed to be that of a Connell man who was last seen Nov. 2.
A deputy sheriff found the body It is believed to be that of Khampheng Soumphakdy, age 65, who was reported missing Nov. 3.
His unoccupied small fishing boat was found floating on Long Lake early Nov. 4. His pickup was parked at the lake.
Mr. Soumphakdy’s body was placed in the care of Grant County Coroner Craig Morrison, whose staff will verify the identity of the remains. All evidence suggests Soumphakdy drowned after falling out of the boat.
“I know Mr. Soumphakdy’s family has been struggling with his disappearance for over a month, and I hope and pray they find peace now that we believe his body has been found,” Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones said. “I am very sorry for their loss.”
