COEUR d’ALENE — The National Weather Service in Spokane issued another winter storm warning Monday — up to 8 inches of snow are expected by this morning and another 2 to 4 inches tonight.
When asked for details on the weather between now and Christmas, meteorologist Randy Mann said “Snow. In one word, snow. We have more storms coming.”
Mann said the the snow that accumulated Monday evening should let up this morning and start back up later this afternoon and into Wednesday.
That storm could bring anywhere between 2 and 4 inches of the white stuff.
“We will also have a snowy Christmas Eve and Christmas Day,” he said. “We have a guaranteed white Christmas this year.”
Mann said the snow should stick around for a while, at least through New Year’s Day.
“I don't see anything big that would get rid of the snow,” he said, adding there could be a little rain mixed in at times, but for the most part, it will be snow.
While there have been snow events in November and now December, Mann sees January as a much milder month.
“This is all going to shut off after the first of the year,” Mann said. “I think we will see much milder weather, and then a little more snow at the end of the month.”
Mann said the mountains are starting to accumulate a considerable amount of snow.
“There is going to be quite a bit of snow, especially in the mountains,” he said. “The skiers are really going to love all of this.”
