POST FALLS — Construction of the 40th Habitat for Humanity of North Idaho home in Kootenai County, located at 305 E. Ninth St. in Post Falls, is underway.

"It is expected to be done next spring," said Katrina Boyer, Habitat's development director.

The home's owner will be Quinn Campbell, who is a single parent and will be a first-time homeowner.

"She moved here a few years ago for a fresh start," Boyer said.

As part of "sweat equity" on the home, Campbell must work on the project with volunteers.

"I look forward to having a home where my children and grandchildren can gather," Campbell said.

Campbell was initially denied admittance into the Habitat for Humanity Housing Program more than a year ago.

"Determined to overcome every challenge laid at her door, she made the necessary changes in her life to become qualified," Boyer said. "She is now eager to become the 40th Habitat for Humanity homeowner in Kootenai County."

Habitat is seeking volunteers through the winter on the home project. Work is generally performed on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Habitat for Humanity is a global, ecumenical housing ministry that seeks to build safe, affordable and decent housing for low- to moderate-income residents. The goal is to eliminate substandard housing and end homelessness by building adequate and basic housing.

In addition to building new homes, Habitat revitalizes existing homes through its A Brush with Kindness program.
