Basketball: Stillwater sweeps Troy

Stillwater Christian held off a strong charge and hot shooting from Troy on Tuesday night to win its final home game of the season 58-56 in a nonconference girls basketball game.
The game didn’t look to be all that close early on, with the Cougars jumping out to a 10-point lead in the first quarter.
However, a pair of 3-pointers from Taylor Brown and another from Allie Brown to end the frame cut the lead in half for the Trojans. Allie Brown hit another pair of 3s in the second quarter and a fourth in the third to keep Troy close.
That’s when they were able to dump the ball to post Aurora Bequart, who tallied nine points in the fourth quarter, one more than Stillwater had as a team, to nearly even the score.
The Cougars had just enough, including four free throws from Dori Smith, to finish off Troy and earn one last victory before heading to the MCAA state tournament. Smith had 13 points in the game.
Sarah Paolini led Stillwater with 20 points and 12 rebounds on senior night and fellow fourth-year player Janelle Falk had 14. Cougars seniors Megha Tannehill and Amanda Kauffman were also recognized at the game.
Bequart had 20 points to lead the Trojans, who also got 14 each from Allie Coldwell and Allie Brown.
