BOZEMAN   — A former student at Heritage Christian School in Bozeman has acknowledged twice setting fire to the school.

Zachary James Silflow pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of arson during a hearing before District Judge Mike Salvagni. A plea agreement calls for dismissing two burglary counts.

Silflow, who  is 24, has been jailed since his Oct. 24 arrest for a fire early that morning that damaged the school gym.

The damage was minimized by a sprinkler system installed when the gym was rebuilt after an August 2012 fire, which Silflow also acknowledged setting.

Sentencing is set for March 19.

Silflow said he was upset about how he was treated at the school by students and staff.

At a bail hearing in October, attorneys said Silflow had serious mental health issues.
