The Columbia Falls swimming team did well in its final meet before the state tournament this Friday and Saturday in Missoula. The meet took place at the Bohn-Morer Invitational in Helena on Jan. 31.
On the boys side, sophomore Colton Babcock placed second in the 50-yard freestyle at 22.79 seconds and in the 200 free at 1:49.60.
Zayne Friar took fourth in the boys 100 butterfly at 58.77 and was fifth in the 500 free at 5:47.7. Jacob Hohman was eighth in the 100 freestyle at 55.37.
The boys took seventh in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:43.97 and fifth in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:48.07.
For the girls, Karyssa Nelson had her best meet of the season with a third-place finish in the 50 free at 27.28. Teammate Ashley Caffrey was eighth at 28.16.
The times and places were particularly impressive considering most of the competition came from larger Class AA schools from across the state.
