ST. REGIS – A teacher at the St. Regis High School was recently recognized for excellence as a paraprofessional in the special education department.

For the last six years, Mark Field has worked at the school helping students with their education and according to letters of support for the Region 5 Paraprofessional Teacher of the Year Award, has demonstrated an exceptional degree of ability in working with students to enhance their educational experience. Principal Joe Steele said in his letter of support that Field is “the consummate team player in the special education department.”

“His flexibility and willingness to work with any student has helped the St. Regis School District meet the needs of our special education students in often very trying situations,” Steele said in his letter. “Mark maintains a positive attitude in working with students and staff and is quick to share his student’s successes and achievements with the special education director, classroom teachers and the principal.”

Field said he was proud to have been recognized as the Region 5 Paraprofessional teacher of the Year. He said, while he doesn’t do the job for recognition, it was encouraging that his colleagues and students appreciated the work he performs.
