The Whitefish Mountain Resort Race Team overcame high winds and difficult conditions to post strong results at the Lone Peak speed series in Big Sky last weekend.
The first three days consisted of speed training for the Super G, where the highlight of the track was a jump in the course. Sixteen races in the U14-U21 group competed in what was their first introduction to an alpine speed event.
The series culminated in three Super G races held Saturday and Sunday.
The U14 boys Whitefish team had a dominating presence on the podium where they held eight of nine spots through the three races.
The first race Saturday had Camas Rinehart in first and Devin Beale in third. The second race was a sweep by the Whitefish boys, again with Rinehart on top, Beale in second and Walt Hollensteiner in third.
Colter Upton led the U14 boys podium on Sunday with a first place finish. The sweep was completed with Camas Rinehart in second and Devin Beale in third.
The U16 team was led by Dawson Rinehart who narrowly missed the podium with fourth and fifth place finishes.
For the U16 women, Whitefish was paced by strong performances from Kristin Van Everen.
The U18 group was led by a podium finish for Piper Howeth in third and fast skiing by Cameron Welch with a sixth place on Sunday.
Whitefish racer and coach Annie Jobe topped every U21 podium throughout the weekend.
