MINERAL COUNTY – There will be two wrestlers from Mineral County representing the area on the mats at the state competition this year, one from Alberton and one from Superior.

When Alberton Panther Tyler Ishler and Superior Bobcat Bridger Lapierre face off against their opponents, it will be with a season of experience and knowledge under their belts. The two qualified last week at divisionals for the state tournament in Billings this weekend. Superior wrestling coach Charlie Crabb said he felt confident that Lapierre was ready for the biggest challenge of the year.

“Bridger got second place so he’s our guy who is going,” Crabb said. “All the guys did well. There are some really good kids who aren’t going to state. There was a lot of competition in some weight classes.”

Crabb said, in preparation for the state meet, the team would be working with Lapierre on his game. He also said he felt comfortable with where the young wrestler was both mentally and physically.

“We’re just gonna wrestle him till he can’t stand up,” Crabb said. “We’ll get him in shape and have him ready to go. This is for all the marbles. This is the biggest tournament of the year. The guys are going to help me get him into shape. We just have some final adjustments to make but he’s got the mental toughness. He’s healthy and ready to go.”
