MINERAL COUNTY – Members of the Mineral County 4-H competitive shooting team gathered at the fairgrounds in Superior recently to recognize each other for their exemplary performances in two recent tournaments competing in archery and rifle events.
Shooting sports coach Don Warnken said the team members performed well at both events. Warnken also had a message for the community of Mineral County.
“We really want to thank all our supporters,” Warnken said. “We’ve had some great fundraisers and a lot of people who stepped up to support 4-H shooting sports. We couldn’t go to these tournaments without that support. The team has done really well. Everybody has placed in one form or another and some of the kids have done exceptionally well.”
Warnken said, during a fundraiser over the holidays, team members were selling wreaths and other items in front of Castles Grocery Store in Superior and were well received by community members.
“The community has gone above and beyond,” Warnken said. “Most of our costs are covered by donations or fundraising efforts by these kids.”
