Basketball: Plains, Troy win 7B play-ins

PLAINS — Plains outlasted Troy to earn its way into the postseason, topping the Trojans 48-44 in a District 7B boys basketball play-in game on Tuesday.
Kyle Revier scored 17 points and Ryan Ovitt had 10 as the Horsemen took a 14-9 lead in the first quarter and maintained their slight lead throughout the contest.
Gage Tallmadge had 15 points to lead Troy.
With the win, Plains advances to play at Bigfork on Thursday in a 7B district tournament semifinal.

RONAN — Cedric Earthboy scored a game-high 21 points and Ronan rallied from a slow first half to beat St. Ignatius in a District 6B play-in basketball game.
The Chiefs mustered just 11 points in the first two quarters but leaned on their strong defense to enter the intermission down just three points. Ronan found its form after the break, outscoring the Bulldogs 36-21 in the final 16 minutes, including a 25-point fourth quarter.
Ronan will open the 6B tournament against Missoula Loyola at 2 p.m. on Friday in Hamilton.

EUREKA — Eureka struggled in the third quarter of its District 7B play-in game against Troy, mustering just two points in the frame as the Trojans took the lead and full control to advance in the postseason.
Allie Coldwell scored 14 points and Aurora Becquart had 12 to lead Troy in the contest, which saw the Trojans outscore Eureka 15-2 out of halftime.
Amanda Peterson scored a game-high 16 points to lead the Lions. Stacy Cooper had 10 points.
Troy advances to play at top-seeded Plains in the 7B district tournament semifinals on Thursday.

FRENCHTOWN — Frenchtown leapt out to a 12-4 lead after the first quarter and outpaced Polson the rest of the way, topping the Pirates in a Northwestern A conference game.
Lacy Hochhalter led the Broncs with 12 points on senior night in Frenchtown.
Lauren Lefthand had 11 points and Nichole Lake had 10 for Polson, which closes its regular season against Whitefish at home on Saturday.
