The Lady Loggers stole the show in the fourth quarter, outscoring Polson 14-4 to steal the win away from the Lady Pirates at home, 30-23.

Libby trailed 19-14 going into the final period, but stepped it up a notch on both ends of the floor to secure their 10th win of the season, their fourth in conference play.

Head coach Jim May praised his team for their perseverance. “Again we finished strong in Polson for a tough road win,” he said. “Defense, patience and free-throw shooting were steady in the fourth quarter.”

The Lady Loggers started the game on a good foot, leading 7-6 at the end of the first quarter. A rough second quarter, with the girls scoring only two points, sent Polson into the locker room with an 11-9 lead at the half.

Polson fought to extend that lead by one in the third, scoring eight points to Libby’s six, but it wasn’t enough. The Lady Loggers roared back, dropping in 14 points versus just four from Polson, to propel themselves to the victory.

Hailey Craig led Libby with 11 points, along with one rebound, one steal and one assist. Shyla Stevenson chipped in another eight points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Devon Gallagher scored five points, with four rebounds, one assist and one steal. Hailley Moe added three points, six rebounds, one assist and three steals. Dayln Germany added two points, four rebounds and three steals, and Shannon Reny scored one point and pulled down five rebounds.

The victory puts the Lady Loggers at 10-7 overall for the season, with a 4-3 in-conference record.

The Lady Loggers wrap up their season at home against Columbia Falls on Saturday as they celebrate Senior Night. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

The team will then travel to Whitefish for the divisional tournament on Feb. 26. The top two teams from the divisional tournament qualify for the state meet, which will be held March 5-7.
