Man says tax refund claimed already

A man called the Kalispell Police Department to report that his taxes had been filed — just not by him. He told police that someone may have stolen his identity, filed his tax return and collected the refund. The man said that he would be checking into the suspected identity theft.

A resident on Sixth Avenue West in Kalispell was alarmed when three strangers knocked on her door. She said that she told the people they were at the wrong house, but they still wanted to come in to use the bathroom. The resident suspected the visitors to be under the influence.

A woman brought a rust-colored stray dog to the Whitefish Police Department on Sunday only to find it on her front porch the next day. She brought it back to the police station.

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received a report that a man had blocked off Burnell Avenue in Somers with a sawhorse and a sign that discouraged trespassing. It’s illegal to block a county road, and a deputy was dispatched to visit with the suspected blocker. Nobody was home.

Deputies were unable to locate a DUI suspect who was driving “very fast” on Sunny View Lane in Kalispell. The person who reported it said that the suspect was asked to leave a business due to intoxication and left with children in the car. When deputies found the vehicle, it was unoccupied.

A blue backpack containing pieces of mail was found behind a vehicle at a Columbia Falls business on U.S. 2. 

A wallet with nearly $1,200 inside was found in a parking lot off of Stoner Loop in Lakeside. Via the identification and an honest finder, the owner got his wallet and money back.
