The season is now over for the Bigfork High School girls swim team. The Valkyries continued to improve in their second-ever season of competing in the sport.
“The girls that came back from last year’s team knew what they wanted to accomplish and it was exciting to see their improvements each meet,” head coach Charlotte Ball said. “The girls practiced hard and it paid off. We watched a lot of seconds shed away.”
Gabi DiPaulo took three seconds off her 100-meter breaststroke at the state meet Saturday in Missoula. Jessica Young took almost a second off her 100 backstroke and in both the freestyle and medley relay teams finished two seconds faster.
With continued improvement through the season, and only one senior, Cienna Degele, on the team, Ball is already look forward to next year.
“Overall, I am just thrilled with this season,” she said. “These girls are just such a treasure to coach. We will miss Cienna Degele next year, but we do have a young team so I’m already looking forward to next year’s season.”
