Downtown Whitefish distillery planned

A proposed microdistillery is among four projects the Whitefish Planning Board will consider tonight during public hearings.
Lauren Osciloski of Spotted Bear Spirits is asking the city of Whitefish for a conditional-use permit to operate a distillery and small tasting room at 505 Railway Street in downtown Whitefish.
The distillery would operate under state Liquor Board requirements for hours of operation and maximum number of ounces permitted per customer.
The planning staff is recommending approval of the permit for the distillery, with a notation that water service may need to be upgraded to accommodate the proposed use.
An addition to the O’Shaugh-nessy Center is another project on the agenda. The Whitefish Theatre Company plans to add 2,056 square feet to the northwest side of the building to provide multipurpose and conference rooms, a waiting area and restrooms.
The performing arts center expansion includes 949 square feet of storage area above the new multipurpose room and an entrance modification that will add 335 square feet. A conditional-use permit is required because the building footprint exceeds 7,500 square feet and is located in the Old Town Central District.
A condominium development called Edgewood Townhomes needs a conditional-use permit to move forward. Benjamin Davis of Timberlane Real Estate proposes to build four two-unit condominium buildings at 722 Edgewood Place. The building site meets the growth policy designation of high density residential development.
CJ Fullhouse LLC is asking for a conditional-use permit to convert an existing barn into a guesthouse at 1199 W. Seventh St. A new single-family home also is planned for the property.
The city of Whitefish is asking for an amendment to planned unit development regulations to clarify the blending of uses and density where a planned-unit development overlays multiple zoning districts. A public hearing will accompany the proposed code amendment.
The Planning Board meets at 6 p.m. today at Whitefish City Hall.
