The Lost Johnny Point Campground on the Hungry Horse Reservoir will be closed through mid-July so personnel can remove hazardous trees on 13 acres of the 23-acre campground.

Most of the Douglas fir and subalpine fir trees in the campground are affected by armillaria root disease, making the trees very susceptible to being blown down. Workers will remove infected trees within 150 feet of camp sites, roads, buildings and walking paths to protect campers and property.

Hazard trees will be carefully removed to avoid damaging healthy trees, understory vegetation and campground facilities. Reservations for the 21 sites at the campground for dates beginning Aug. 1 can be made online through www.Recreation.gov.
