Capone's empire gets larger

You'd think these people would be crazy-busy enough with three Capone's Pub & Grills. But Tom and Teresa Capone are adding a fourth place to their inventory.

Mid City Pub will open soon at 916 N. Fourth St. in the building formerly occupied by BoJack's Tavern (and before that the Office Tavern). With an early tavern decor, seating is for about 50 customers at high tables, a large corner booth and at the bar.

The "menu" will include 16 craft beers and ciders on tap, eight wines and an appetizer menu. Breakfast and lunch may be added in the future. The furniture includes a world-class juke box and a tournament foosball table in the back. Mid City Pub will open at 5 p.m. and be closed Sundays and Mondays.

Meanwhile, the Capones have added ample parking to both their Coeur d'Alene and Hayden places and are expanding the kitchen in Post Falls. Yeah, they're busy.

The CdA Market will have plants, produce

Bedding plants and produce will be offered at The CdA Market, which should open about March 1 at 1425 E. Sherman Ave. The building previously was a vehicle repair shop and in the 1950s was a Kaiser-Frazer dealer.

With 30 years experience in the business, owner Wayne Harmon said he's aiming for 100 percent organic in the bedding plant line and about 50-50 in the produce line, with a 100 percent objective.

They'll also offer organic soil mixes for the home gardeners.

March and April hours will be 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and expanding to 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in May.

Pilates Pathway is moving

With private, semi-private and group classes, the Pilates Pathway is moving March 2 to 5920 Government Way from 730 N. Fourth St. (across from Capone's).

With its inventory of full equipment, owner Linda Cusanelli and helpers concentrate on post rehabilitation, sport-specific training and pre- and post-natal. Classes are also in core align and booty barre.

"Our staff is all certified instructors trained to deal with special needs," Cusanelli said.

The website is www.thepilatespathway.com. The new phone is 762-8988.

Lake City Roofing-Construction plans move

Lake City Roofing & Construction will move into its new location at 3640 E. Covington in Post Falls in May. Now at 7155 Greta in Post Falls, the company specializes in roofing, siding, masonry, power-washing and log home restoration.

Owners Myron and Lisa Farrar have had the business 26 years and have sons Michael and Shaun among the 22 skilled workers.

Hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and for emergency calls. Phone 665-5881 and email [email protected]. Check www.lcroof.com.

Now for the Tidbits

- Watch for news on The Paint Buzz in Riverstone, Timber Gastropub in Post Falls, Candy O'Brien's Boutique in the Resort Plaza Shops, MOD Pizza in Winco-Crossroads and changes in the Silver Lake Mall food court.

- Now with two friends in electric wheelchairs that need vans with side doors and ramps, I've become very aware how the "van accessible" and "van only" designated handicapped-access parking spaces are misused. These spaces need to be saved for these vans. And it's disappointing when you see how many "handicap accessible" spaces are used by people who don't actually need them even though their vehicles have the decals. And some businesses don't have enough handicap spaces.

- Many numbers are simply plural and don't need apostrophes such as decades (the 1990s) and temperatures (the 40s).

- He didn't object to the wrong object.

- A real headline: "Two sisters reunite after 18 years at checkout counter."
