WALLACE - The St. Maries Lumberjacks showed up to the district tournament on Saturday with 13 wrestlers and 12 of them are headed to the state tournament next week.
The Lumberjacks were on fire as they scored 192 points - 60 points more than second-place Grangeville.
District title winners for St. Maries included Gage Mitchell (120), Hayden Humphrey (126), Josh Richmond (152) and Nathan Masterson (182).
"Overall, I think we wrestled really good," said St. Maries coach Dennis Humphrey. "We wrestled up to our potential and had really good competition. We landed right about where we had hoped for in the tournament."
Humphrey noted that the team's next goal is going down to state and bringing home a trophy.
The tournament host Wallace Miners, competing with five wrestlers, will take three to state.
Jason Haynes (220) was the best finisher for Wallace. He finished second in his bracket.
Stetson Crewdson (145) and Brian Davis (152) will also travel down to Pocatello.
Austin Street - wrestling for Wallace all season - will compete at the state tournament as a Mullan Tiger after finishing fourth in the 138-pound bracket.
Wallace coach Pat Waters was pleased with the performance from Street and the three Wallace wrestlers after Saturday.
"We had a good tournament overall," said Waters. "We're taking four to state. I wish I could take everybody but you can't. Overall though, we had a good turnout."
Kootenai, who is also in the District I-II, did not send any wrestlers to the district tournament.
The top four placers in each weight advance to state Friday and Saturday at Holt Arena in Pocatello.
