Western B divisional basketball action begins Wednesday with girls on the court first for two afternoon and two evening contests at Flathead High School.

The boys tournament starts Thursday with four games at FHS.

Eight teams, four from District 7B and four from 6B, are entered in both tournaments.

The top two boys and girls teams advance to state play.

For the girls, top-seed Ronan from 6B kicks things off versus Troy, the fourth seed from 7B, at 1 p.m.

Deer Lodge, the three seed from 6B, faces Plains, the second seed from 7B, at 2:45.

The evening session starts with No. 1 7B seed Bigfork tangling with Florence, the fourth seed from 6B, at 6.

Thompson Falls, the three seed from 7B, faces Missoula Loyola, the second seed from 6B, at 7:45.

The afternoon winners advance to semifinal action on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The evening winners are in the other semifinal contest at 9:15.

The championship game is set for 9:15 p.m. on Friday.

For the boys, defending divisional champion Bigfork, the top seed from 7B, plays Ronan, the fourth seed from 6B, at 11:20 a.m.

Eureka, the three seed from 7B, follows versus Florence, the two seed from 6B, at 1 p.m.

Missoula Loyola, the top seed from 6B, faces Plains, the fourth seed from 7B, at 4.

Deer Lodge, the third seed from 6B, meets Thompson Falls, the second seed from 7B, at 5:45.

Semifinal play is set for Friday at 4 and 5:45 p.m. The championship game will be played at 8:45 p.m. on Saturday.

The Bigfork boys beat Florence 53-32 in last year’s divisional championship game.

The Deer Lodge girls won the 2014 divisional trophy, beating Missoula Loyola in the final, 51-36.

The Bigfork girls finished third last year.
