Northwest A divisional: Two basketball titles for Columbia Falls

WHITEFISH — Make that seven straight Northwest A divisional titles for the Columbia Falls Wildcats.
Ty Morgan poured in a game-high 18 points, Grant Wallace and Jayce Fagerland chipped in 12 and 10 respectively, as Columbia Falls broke away from Polson for a 62-48 victory Saturday night in the boys basketball championship game at Whitefish High School.
Morgan hit 9 of 10 foul shots, which is where the Wildcats did almost a third of their scoring. For the game, they were 21 of 26.
Columbia Falls broke away from a 12-all tie at the end of the first period to take a 32-17 lead at the half.
Matthew Rensvold scored 14 points for Polson. Andrew Curley added 12 and Tanner Wilson 11.

WHITEFISH — Bridger Truett scored 19 points to lift Frenchtown past Whitefish.
Frenchtown, leading 36-30 after three quarters, outscored the Bulldogs in the fourth 19-11.
Chris Delaney added 10 points for Frenchtown.
Whitefish was led by AJ Wetsch’s 12 points.

WHITEFISH — Columbia Falls held a lead at the end of all four quarters in beating Frenchtown in the championship game.
It was the second-straight divisional title for the Wildkats and the team’s third in the last five years.
Columbia Falls won a divisional crown in 2011.
Ciera Finberg led Columbia Falls offensively with 12 points. Winter Kemppainen added 10.
Lacey Hochhalter led the way for Frenchtown with 14 points.
After holding a 20-17 advantage at the half, Columbia Falls scored 33 points in the final half to 26 for Frenchtown.

WHITEFISH — Libby outscored Whitefish 18-9 in the second quarter and rolled from there to an 11-point victory.
Shyla Stevenson led the Loggers in scoring with 15 points. She was 6 of 10 shooting from the field and 3 of 5 at the free-throw line.
Hailey Craig had 11 points for Libby.
Mariah Drown topped Whitefish in scoring with seven.
Libby controlled the boards, 33-24. Shannon Reny and Abby Ennenga both had five for Libby.
Mariah Drown had six rebounds for Whitefish.

Moe shared scoring honors with Shannon Reny, who did all her scoring from the free-throw line, and Hailey Craig. All three girls tallied nine points.
