Auto Haus International now open
Nils Rosdahl | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 10 years, 11 months AGO
Now in the family's 62nd year and soon-to-be fourth generation of selling vehicles and parts, Auto Haus Inter-national has opened at 5635 N. Government Way in the former AmeriGas location (at Dalton Avenue).
Owners Aaron and Shannon Schmidt sell domestic and foreign autos, trucks, boats, RVs, parts and more from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays by appointment. If they don't have what customers want in stock, they'll help find it.
Opening in 1953 in Garden City, Idaho, Aaron's grandfather Bob Mockwitz was known as The Singing Car Dealer for his passion of singing and playing piano, and his musical radio ads caught the attention of Bing Crosby. The family added other generations of car dealerships with Aaron and Shannon discovering and moving to North Idaho with their four children in 2012.
Their website is under construction. Phone 762-5824.

Now for the Tidbits
- Always interested in eateries, watch for future probable openings of Timber Gastropub in the former Hot Rod Cafe, Cracker Barrel at I-90 and Appleway-Northwest Boulevard, Chipotle Mexican Grill at 305 W. Appleway and a new cafe in Stoddard Park on Prairie Avenue.
- Also watch for news on The Cellar downtown, Chief Architect in Riverstone, a fence dealer at Seltice and Maguire, the 16-floor condo structure One Lakeside at 201 N. First St., Extension Addiction Salon on Government Way, the Old City Hall at Fifth and Sherman, the Sherman Arms building at Fourth and Sherman and Massage Envy in Ironwood Square.
- New Year's Day columnist Sholeh Patrick printed many, many puns that I now can't use. She hoped one in 10 made readers laugh, but no pun in ten did.
- The state with the highest percentage of people who walk to work is Alaska.
- Speeds should be written as numerals, not words.
