With the cost of health care sky rocketing, we are always looking for ways to save anywhere we can. One way we can save money is on our health in 2015. The following data was the result of a seven-year study performed by Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Chicago. The study was conducted by Richard Sarnat, MD, president of Alternative Medicine Integration. Dr. Sarnat later updated the study adding in three additional years of research, and concluded the following. "My research, conducted over a 10-year period utilizing clinical and cost outcomes data from one of the nation's largest insurance underwriters, suggest that the regular utilization of chiropractic could reduce the need for hospitalization, pharmaceutical usage and overall global health care costs by almost 50 percent."
The results of the study:
* 60 percent fewer hospital admissions
* 59 percent fewer hospital days
* 62 percent fewer out-patient surgeries and procedures
* 85 percent savings in pharmaceutical costs
When you look at the results of the study, you can see that savings goes deeper than just the cost of your health care. The results show that when patients use a chiropractor in conjugation with their primary care provider, they need fewer surgeries, fewer hospital visits, miss work less, and use less medications. In addition, patients report more satisfaction with their health care.
As the study shows, you can save money and live a healthier life by integrating a chiropractor into your health care team. Also the study noticed that the patients in the study were healthier, and more satisfied with their health care due to chiropractic care.
