IDAHO: Good, but not heavenly
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 10 years AGO
I have this question about how God loves Idaho more. No, we did not “add the words” or legalize marijuana, but have we provided educational and job opportunities for our young people in this state? How about our willingness to fight major political battles over the kind of education our children receive? Or even of pushing a specific religion in places, where quite frankly it should not be found at all? Or preferring to vote for “religiously minded candidates” for public office, contrary to what is found in the U.S. Constitution? Of deciding that actually paying taxes should be deemed “unconstitutional,” regardless of the fact that, not only do you find it to be a constitutional amendment, even the Bible references taxes more than once. “Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s…”
Does God love political corruption? Would God love a “right to work” guarantee that deprives employees of good hours and good wages? The biblical Old Testament duly informs anyone paying attention, that you do not have your workforce “working for free.” Instead, they are to be compensated commensurate to the actual work performed. Just as one of the regulations with regard to capitalistic enterprises found in the Old Testament involves, not defrauding the customer.
I will bet that anyone who actually bothered reading through the entire Bible would likely find a good many reasons why God would not love this state any more than any other state. Oh, and good roads that withstand studded snow tires in the winter? They are created and maintained through tax dollars, not a miracle from Jesus Christ.
