KELLOGG - Allison Kirby scored 11 of her game-high 19 points in the second half, leading the 3A top-ranked Timberlake Tigers past the third-ranked Kellogg Wildcats 53-30 in the Intermountain League opener for both schools on Tuesday at Andrews Gymnasium.
"She played a really good game,"Kellogg coach Eli Bourgard said of Kirby. "She did a lot of good things for them. We had way too many turnovers. Credit Timberlake, we didn't play well or handle their pressure offensively."
Kirby made three 3-pointers and Keelie Lawler scored eight points in her first game since getting injured against East Valley on Dec. 2 for Timberlake (11-2), which travels to Bonners Ferry on Friday.
Marley Chambers scored nine points for Kellogg (9-3), which travels to Priest River on Friday.

POST FALLS - Freshman post Melody Kempton finished with a team-high 19 points and 12 rebounds, but turnovers did in the Trojans during a nonleague loss to the Chiefs at The Arena.
"We gave up a ton of turnovers the entire game," Post Falls coach Marc Allert said. "We got things solved in the third quarter and calmed down a little bit. In the fourth quarter, we had several possessions in a row where we'd turn it over and give up offensive rebounds. It was not pretty."
Allert was called for a technical late in the fourth quarter, with Post Falls (11-4) leading by one point.
"It was a bad thing to do at that time," Allert said. "The kids played great, their coach let them down. It was a bad decision on my part."
Post Falls plays Thursday at Lake City in 5A Inland Empire League play.

"She hit two big shots from the elbow in overtime," Charter coach Doug Grant said. "The biggest thing is we didn't hit our free throws. We were 7 for 31 from the line. Neither team really shot the ball well. I'm surprised we got to 48 points. We've had one game at full strength in 10 games. We've got to regroup and get healthy."
