Spokane trades rights to Gow to Brandon for draft pick
SPOKANE - The Spokane Chiefs traded the rights to 20-year-old defenseman Reid Gow to the Brandon Wheat Kings in exchange for a fifth-round Bantam Draft selection.
Spokane will have the choice of using the pick during the 2015 or 2016 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.
Gow, who chose not to play his overage year in Spokane to be closer to family in Manitoba, played 18 games at the University of Manitoba, scoring twice with five assists.
Gow played 229 regular season games with Spokane, good for 39th all-time in franchise history. He scored 17 goals and 129 assists with the Chiefs.
Eastern guard Harvey earns Big Sky Player of the Week
The two league wins that came with it were the most special, but Eastern Washington junior guard Tyler Harvey has earned Big Sky Conference Player of the Week honors for the fourth time in his career and second time this season.
Harvey, 6-foot-4 from Torrance, Calif., averaged 27.5 points per game last week on 10-of-19 shooting from 3-point range to take over the Division I lead in both scoring (23.4 points) and 3-pointers made per game (4-6). Most importantly, the Eagles started the league season 2-0 for only the seventh time in 28 seasons as a member of the league.
He scored a career-high 39 points with three rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal in Eastern Washington's 84-78 win over defending Big Sky champion and preseason favorite Weber State last Thursday. Against Idaho State on Saturday, Harvey scored 16 points on 4-of-12 shooting.
Eastern travels to Idaho on Saturday for the schools' first league game since 1996.

Arvell Nelson (6-5, 225), from Texas Southern, joins the Shock for his third AFL season after spending 2014 with the Pittsburgh Power. During 2014 in Pittsburgh, Nelson appeared in 18 games, starting 14 of those contests at jack linebacker where he recorded 60 tackles, four fumble recoveries, and five interceptions on the season.
Quarterback Carson Coffman (6-3, 215), from Kansas State, joins the Shock for his fourth season as a member of the Arena Football League. Coffman played in 14 games for the Iowa Barnstormers, completing 236 of 401 pass attempts for 2,970 yards and 53 touchdowns.
During his senior season at Kansas State, Coffman completed 171 of 263 pass attempts (65 percent completion percentage) for 2,060 yards and 14 touchdowns. As a Wildcat, his career completion percentage of 63.4 ranks first in school history, and he is fourth all-time in career passing efficiency with a rating of 134.
