SANDPOINT — Music played, the faithful swayed to the music and hands were raised in prayer as several hundred residents gathered at Farmin Park Thursday for the annual Day of Prayer.

Those who attended said they came to the event to celebrate God and to pray for others, whether they serve the community like police officers and political leaders, or those effected by tragedy like the earthquake victims of Nepal.

“I wanted to pray about all of the police officers who have died from bad people,” said Tegan Bowman. “I want to also pray for the Army because they watch over us.”

They also wanted to offer praise for all the good things in the world as well, her mother Patty Bowman said.

“We have a lot of good things in our lives,” she added.
