ROYAL CITY - Royal City Councilwoman Tiffany Workinger has asked the Council to approve use of city property for campers or RVs during the 2015 SummerFest.

The community Festival's organizers are expecting the biggest turnout ever. Scheduled for July, SummerFest will be a reunion of all the classes of the first 50 years of Royal High School.

Workinger is asking for the access to City property for RVs or camping because of limited housing in the community.

The Council will consider the request and has requested a plan be presented with possible camping sites identified.

In other matters before the Council at its Dec. 2 meeting, Mayor Kent Andersen held a public hearing to obtain comment before adopting the final 2015 budget. There was no public comment.

A vote was taken to accept Ordinance 14-08 adopting the final budget.

The consent agenda was approved. It included Council meeting minutes from November 18; Payroll for 11/30/14 in the amount of $39,345.31; and claims for 12/02/14 Nos. 26556-26581 in the amount of $63,945.27.

City Attorney Katherine Kenison recommended to the Council that City should consider revising the animal control code, specifically relating to dangerous dogs and potentially dangerous dogs.

Other cities have been forced to defend against legal action arising from breed-specific legislation, she said.
