SANDPOINT — A former Bonner County man convicted in a killing at Priest Lake in 2007 is launching an effort to have his case overturned and his sentence amended.

Keith Allen Brown argues in a petition for post-conviction relief that he was denied due process in 1st District Court and given ineffective assistance by his legal counsel. He also contends evidence supporting his claim of self-defense was destroyed by the state.

The petition was filed on Dec. 12, court records show. Brown is acting as his own legal counsel in the civil action.
