Friday night’s wrestling dual between the Wolfpack and Libby at Glacier High School played out like both coaches thought it would.

Glacier won the matches it was expecting to and the same held true for Libby. The end result was a 48-15 victory for Glacier.

“No major upsets,” Glacier coach Ross Dankers said.

“It was a good week ... we wrestled well.”

Glacier had two individuals win by pins — Justin Gibson (103) and Sam Barber (132).

The Wolfpack’s Ryder Day (126) left the mat with a major decision, Cody Decker (138) won by technical fall and Jake Ferkin (160) won by decision.

Kyle Mulcahy (113), Bryce Franklin (182), Kellen Bemis (205) and Eli Horn (285) all won by forfeit.

Libby, on the other hand, had four individual winners.

Tim Brivka (120) won by pin while Dylan Parrish (145), Zach Crace (152) and Garret Chapel (170) were all victorious by close decisions.

“I really didn’t know what would happen at 145, but I was proud of the way Dylan went out there and competed until the end,” Libby coach Kelly Morford said of Parrish.

“He fought his tail off to not give up that pin at the end.”

Parrish held on to beat Glacier’s Cody Settle, 17-12.

Settle nearly had Parrish pinned to end the second and third periods, but time just ran out on Settle both times.

“Give credit to Settle for trying to score points to the very end,” Dankers said.

“He didn’t give up.”

That was also the most exciting match of the dual.

Crace turned in a workmanlike effort, decisioning Glacier’s Quinn Barber 3-0.

Chapel, the defending Class A state champion, held on to beat Isaac Sanez, 2-1.

Chapel was penalized a point in the final period for stalling.

“We wrestled their two studs pretty tough at 152 and 170,” Dankers said.

Crace and Chapel are both ranked No. 2 at their respective weight classes in the latest Class A state coaches poll.

“We’re just trying to get tougher,” Morford said of his squad.

“We did that tonight. We didn’t give up a lot of pins. Every match was a battle.”

Libby is back on the mats today, hosting Frenchtown in a Northwestern A dual at 4 p.m.

Glacier’s next action is the Rocky Mountain Classic in Missoula next weekend.
