Norman C. Gough, 93, passed away on Jan. 8, 2015, at his home in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. His wife, Syble, and stepdaughter, Susan Oakes, were by his side.

Norm was born on Feb. 22, 1921, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He married his childhood sweetheart, Vivian Gilman. Norm was a model father to his five sons David, Greg, Doug, Gary and Rick. He was a delightful grandfather, always willing to play and be silly, like acting out the Good Fairy part in "Little Bunny Foo Foo." Never was an unkind word heard from this man's lips.

Following Vivian's death in 1998, Norm married Syble Powell in 2000. They enjoyed 14 years together. Syble brought eight adult children to the union: Mark, Bruce, Chad, Tim, Glen, Wyatt, Susan and Becky.

Norm was preceded in death by his first wife, Vivian; his brother Dale; and stepson Tim. He is survived by his wife, Syble, his sons and stepchildren, and their families. In addition to the clans aforementioned and their posterity, Norm is survived by his sister Shirley Marion of Spokane.

Norm was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

There will be a viewing from noon to 5 p.m. today, Jan. 13, at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. Fourth St., Coeur d'Alene. There will also be a 10 a.m. viewing prior to the funeral, with the service at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 14, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center, 2801 N.
