GIRLS PREP BASKETBALL: Kempton pushes Trojans past Vikings

COEUR d'ALENE - Melody Kempton had 17 points, eight rebounds and eight blocked shots, and the Post Falls Trojans outscored the Coeur d'Alene Vikings 17-8 in the fourth quarter for a 50-42 victory in 5A Inland Empire League play Tuesday night at Elmer Jordan Court.
Kim Reynolds added 11 points, Sam Runkle 10 for Post Falls (13-4, 2-1 5A IEL), which trailed by one point entering the final quarter.
"You've got to give Coeur d'Alene a lot of credit; their kids have really improved," Post Falls coach Marc Allert said. "I didn't think we came mentally prepared to play today. I told our seniors, we need to credit our two freshmen (Kempton and Bailey Brennan, who had four steals) for pulling this one out."
Madisen Scholwinski had 15 points, seven rebounds and eight blocked shots for Coeur d'Alene (9-7, 0-3), which plays at Lake City on Friday in the Fight for the Fish spirit game.
Post Falls returns to action Jan. 23 at home vs. Lake City.

Charli Sadler had 11 points, 13 rebounds, five assists and six steals and Robbyn Trogden had 20 points and six steals for Mullan (6-7, 2-1 NSL), which hosts Kootenai on Thursday.
Cailyn Dohrman scored 15 points for Lakeside (5-7, 2-0), which travels to Kootenai for the Battle on the Trail spirit game on Saturday.
