HOT SPRINGS – The Noxon Lady Red Devils earned their first win of the season on the road last weekend, earning a 39-16 road victory against the Hot Springs Lady Savage Heat.
Noxon wasted no time jumping out in front during Friday’s game as the Lady Red Devils went on a 14-1 run to start the night.
The Lady Red Devils built off of their early lead and went into the half with the 25-7 advantage.
The Noxon girls cooled down in the second half but were still able to maintain 14-9 edge in second half scoring for the team’s first win.
The victory moves the Lady Red Devils to 1-5 on the year.
The contributions of senior McKenna Krueger and junior Asiah Jensen proved critical for Noxon.
Krueger led the Lady Red Devils with 16 points on the evening, while Jensen added 12 points of her own.
For the Lady Savage Heat the majority of their offense came from senior Josey Carr and sophomore Stacy Gray.
Carr put up seven points and Gray accounted for six of the team’s point total.
Last week’s game was not only a contest between two Sanders County teams but also two District 14-C squads.
Both teams took part in the Sanders County Tip-Off Tournament but did not face off against one another.
Noxon will next host the Superior Lady Bobcats on Friday, Jan. 16.
The Lady Savage Heat will next play at home against the St. Regis Lady Tigers on Friday, Jan. 16.
